A windy wedding. Trust the South Coast of KZN to deliver one heck of a day for this wedding. Poor Ryno and Anje had planned a wedding on the beach, sealing their life together with the warm Indean Ocean lapping at their feet. Not today. The South Westerly had other plans.
Not to worry though. The folks at Umthunzi, seasoned event organisers that they are, had it all under control. Their back-up, indoor venue was set up in absolutely no time, and even though the wedding wasn’t on the beach, all the bare feet and sand around was close enough. In some ways the little chapel at the hotel lent itself to a cozy, warm little venue, and provided shelter against the elements. It was all very charming.
I have to say I was a bit nervous. After the picture perfect day Ryno, Anje and I had to do their engagement shoot, this wind was going to present some challenges. If you have ever been on the beach in a gale, you’ll know how the sand being whipped up against your skin stings. I had to plan for less time on the beach, and do some improvising. We did visit some of the trusted locations that I have used in previous shoots, but we had a good drive around the area, scouting other locations and making most of the limited winter-sun.
At the end we not only had plenty of fun, but the photos we made were great. Wishing you two a splendid life together!
